How to build a cement plant?
What has involved with setting up a cement plant?
First, you need to determine the cement types you want or produce and if the raw materials are available in your region. Do you have to import raw materials? Such as limestone, shells and chalk, clay, slate, silica sand, and iron ore.
It would be best if you secured enough limestone to have reserves for at least 20 years. For example, a limestone mine should not be more than 300km away from your cement plant.
You have to make sure that the raw material has the required physical and chemical characteristics to produce cement.
You also need to obtain the related environmental licenses, for which you will most likely require an environmental impact study.
During searching for a perfect location, high voltage power grids should be available close by. It would help if you considered load shedding, as this could have a severe adverse effect on your cement production capabilities. If you’re going to use natural gas, you should be close to the central line.
Contact SBCCO-cement to ensure that the capacity can be available for your plant.
It would be best if you also defined the fuel types you’ll use, such as coal, natural gas, fuel oil, etc. Normally, coal is the cheapest.
Contact the fuel suppliers to make sure the capacity is available.
